4x4 offline GPS for overlanding that lasts for days

Real 4x4 trips head where there's no network: remote areas, several days, zero bars of signal. Triaka downloads offline maps of the whole region and locates you by satellite GPS so you can plan, navigate and coordinate the convoy without relying on coverage.

How it works

4x4 navigation ready for days without coverage

Three steps to prep and run an overland trip without relying on the cell network.
1

Plan with signal, at home

Build the trip in the planner—web or mobile—import a GPX if you already have one and pin waypoints for fuel, water and camp on the map.

2

Download the region's offline maps

Before you lose coverage, download the whole area's maps in high resolution, so satellite GPS keeps locating you for days with no cell network.

3

Head out with the convoy and record everything

See your group live on the map, follow the track and the app saves every point locally; when you get signal back, the route syncs on its own.

What's included

Everything an offline expedition needs

Offline maps by region

Downloadable in high resolution and with no cap, to cross whole days out of coverage without running out of map. (Premium)

Satellite GPS with no network

Position from GPS, GLONASS and Galileo; it locates you even without a single bar of cell signal. (Free)

Live elevation profile

Elevation gain and grade in real time, plus contour lines from the topographic map, to read crossings and climbs as a reference before you commit.

Cached waypoints

Mark fuel, water, camp and hazards; they stay saved and visible on the map even when you're without signal.

Convoy and group chat

Live groups show you every vehicle in the convoy on the map; chat adds text, photo and synced location.

Multi-layer maps and GPX

Satellite, topographic and trails with a one-tap switch; import external GPX files that become navigable routes and export your own.

Before you head out

The expedition is planned with signal; it's run without it

The planner—on the web and on mobile—lets you map out the whole trip, import a GPX you already have and pin waypoints for fuel, water and camp on the topographic map. You set it all up from home, with a good connection, while you can still review each leg at your own pace.

Then you download the region's offline maps and you no longer depend on the network. Out in the field, satellite GPS keeps locating you, the elevation profile shows you what's coming and live groups keep the whole convoy visible on the map, even as it spreads out among the hills and days pass with no coverage.

  • Offline maps by region, high resolution and no cap, for whole days out of coverage. (Premium)
  • Satellite GPS (GPS/GLONASS/Galileo) that locates you with no cell network. (Free)
  • Live convoy and chat with location to follow the whole group, plus an elevation profile to read the terrain.

Who it's for

Built for overlanders and 4x4 convoys

The long-weekend convoy

You head out with several trucks to a remote area and live groups keep the whole convoy located on the map, even as the group spreads out among hills and valleys.

The solo overlander

You cross regions with no coverage for days; offline maps and fuel and water waypoints serve as a reference to manage your range.

The one who plans the technical route

You study the elevation profile and contour lines to anticipate river crossings and demanding climbs before committing the convoy to a leg.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about offline 4x4 navigation

Does 4x4 navigation work without signal for several days?
Yes, that's the case it's built for. You download the region's offline maps and can spend whole days out of coverage: satellite GPS locates you with no network and the route records locally, syncing when you get signal back.
Does it help coordinate a convoy of several trucks?
Yes. With live groups each vehicle appears on the map in real time and you can use the chat with location. It helps you know where everyone is even as the convoy spreads out across the terrain.
Can I see the grade before a tough crossing?
The live elevation profile shows elevation gain and grade, and the topographic map's contour lines give you a reference for the terrain. They're supporting data to help you decide, not a guarantee that the crossing is passable.
Can I import a GPX route I already have?
Yes. You import an external GPX and it becomes a navigable route on any of the map layers. You can also export your own recorded routes to back them up or share them with the rest of the convoy.
Can I see the navigation on the vehicle's screen?
Yes, with CarPlay you can see Triaka's navigation on your vehicle's compatible screen during the trip. (Android Auto isn't available yet.)
Can I prepare the whole trip before heading out?
Yes. In the planner—web or mobile—you map out the whole route, import a GPX and pin waypoints for fuel, water and camp on the topographic map. Then you download the region's offline maps to have them in the field without relying on the network.
